Meet Dr Sam Kain
About Dr Kain
Dr Kain has been a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Tauranga Eye Specialists since 2009, specialising in cataract surgery, glaucoma, and general ophthalmology. He has a strong focus on glaucoma care and is dedicated to early detection and treatment to help prevent vision loss.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr Kain is involved in eye health advocacy and research. He serves as a trustee for Glaucoma NZ and was a Director of the Save Sight Society, a group of ophthalmologists committed to raising public awareness about preventable blindness and promoting early intervention.
Dr Kain has contributed to multiple research publications and journals and holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer position in Ophthalmology at the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, where he helps educate and mentor the next generation of doctors.
