The Very Latest Treatments and Wider Range of Options

Our specialists will carefully evaluate your child’s condition using advanced diagnostic tools and develop a treatment plan tailored to their needs.

Being at the forefront of ophthalmology, we provide a broad range of options to ensure your child receives the very best care for their eye health. Our specialists are trained in new advancements, often gaining early access to exclusive technologies before anyone else.

We offer a comprehensive paediatric ophthalmology service, including but not limited to:

Amblyopia

Amblyopia, or “lazy eye”, is a vision problem where the vision from one eye doesn’t develop normally and cannot be improved even with glasses or contact lenses.

Strabismus

Strabismus, also known as “crossed eyes” or “squint”, happens when the eyes aren’t aligned and look in different directions. Treatment for strabismus in children usually involves things like glasses, patching, or sometimes surgery to help straighten the eyes and improve vision.

Myopia Management

Myopia, or nearsightedness, is a common condition where distant objects appear blurry due to the eye’s shape causing light to focus incorrectly. Treatment options for children include prescription glasses or contact lenses to slow progression and protect long-term vision health.

Ptosis

Ptosis is a condition where the upper eyelid droops, potentially obstructing vision and affecting appearance. Depending on the severity and underlying cause, options for treating ptosis in children include surgical correction, non-surgical approaches like patching, or the use of glasses with special lenses.

Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction

Nasolacrimal duct obstruction, commonly known as a blocked tear duct, occurs when the pathway that allows tears to drain from the eye into the nose fails to develop normally or becomes partially or fully obstructed.

Treatment may involve gentle massage of the tear duct, or in more persistent cases, a minor surgical procedure to open the drainage pathway.

Retinopathy of Prematurity

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is an eye condition that affects premature infants caused by abnormal blood vessel growth in the retina. Treatment may include laser therapy or injection of medication to prevent further progression and preserve vision.

Pediatric Cataracts

Pediatric cataracts occurs when the lens of a child’s eye becomes cloudy, impairing vision and potentially leading to blindness if untreated. Treatment typically involves surgery to remove the cloudy lens, followed by using corrective lenses or contact lenses to restore vision.

Pediatric Retinal Conditions

Pediatric retinal conditions refer to a group of disorders that affect the retina in children, potentially impacting vision development and overall eye health. Depending on the specific diagnosis and severity, these conditions can often be corrected through specialised treatments such as laser therapy, surgical intervention, or medication.

Pediatric Ocular Oncology
Pediatric ocular oncology involves the diagnosis and treatment of eye cancers in children, such as retinoblastoma. Treatment options, depending on the type and progression of the condition, may include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, laser therapy, cryotherapy, or surgery. One of our specialists is a Retinoblastoma Consultant with the National Retinoblastoma Service, bringing expert care to young patients facing this condition.
